RADON INFORMATION What is radon? Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that is formed when underground uranium breaks down. As a gas, radon moves through the soil and enters homes through floors, foundations, or walls near the soil. Radon can build up to dangerous levels in a building. Radon cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted. The only way to know if your house has radon is to test. Any type of dwelling can have elevated levels of radon -- old or new, crawlspace or slab foundation, basement or two-story.
